Students should wear 100% natural fiber clothing (cotton T shirts and jeans are great) and close-toed shoes(no Croc's). you can check the label on your clothing if you are unsure.
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). We provide glasses and aprons. If you want to wear gloves, we recommend leather work gloves or welding gloves. However some students prefer to bring their own.
You will definitely want a water bottle and/or snacks.
Last but not least: bring a good attitude! Be ready to work hard and learn a lot. Blacksmithing is hard work, and it is common for people to underestimate the level of physicality involved.
Basics of Blacksmithing: The focus of this class is on mastering the fundamentals of blacksmithing. Students will make a hook and nail project in this class, but the emphasis is on skill development and technique, as well as the other educational aspects of blacksmithing.
Knife Making: Our knife classes will take you as far as you'd like to go into the world of bladesmithing. Ever wanted to make a knife? Seen Forged in Fire and wanted to give it a shot? This is your chance. The introduction to knife making class is the place to start with no previous experience necessary as you learn to forge a railroad spike into a knife.
Event/Group/Team Building: Do you have a group of 4 or more people that would like to forge? We have some great blacksmithing experiences for everyone from birthday parties to bachelor/bachelorette parties, corporate team building to church groups. Date Night: In this class you will be forging two feathers together! This class is so much fun. Each of you get your own piece of steel to forge a beautiful decorative leaf or functional key chain if you like. It is your project to make how you want. Come try something new together and leave with memories that will last a lifetime.
